TWIF: Gucci Memes, The CFDAs, $10,000 Boots and FentyxPuma

Welcome to TWIF (The Week in Fashion) or my attempt to update this blog more than once a month. TWIF is a round up of the latest and greatest in fashion news. Here are a few items of note.

And The Nominees Are...
The CFDA nominees are in, Raf Simons snagged a nom for menswear and womenswear (Calvin Klein), Mary-Kate and Ashley also were nominated for both womenswear and accessories (The Row), Mansur Gavriel, Off-White and Monse also received nominations among many others. The late Franca Sozzani the iconic editor in chief of Vogue Italia will be honored with a Fashion Icon Award.

There were mixed reactions to the recent Gucci campaign that used memes as marketing. While some thought it was a smart move (I am kind of glad they used people who actually make memes on instagram instead of some marketing team) a lot of people were mad Gucci was capitalizing on "meme culture". What a time to be alive. There's a lot going on here and I'm not even sure which side I stand on when it comes to the campaign but regardless of how people felt about it, they were talking about it.

These Boots Weren't Made for Walking
Those show-stopping slouchy rhinestone YSL boots you saw all over social media already have a waitlist, of course. The shocking thing here, besides how well boots covered entirely in rhinestones look, is how much they cost. If you have an extra $10,000 to spare you might as well join the waitlist too.

Werk, Werk, Werk, Werk, Werk
If you're a huge Rihanna fan (like me) you've probably been following the Fenty x Puma collections. Well the singers latest collab with the sportwear brand is available. The Marie-Antoinette-on-her-way-to-gym athleisure collection features pastel colors, a lace du-rag (which I'm sure I can't pull off but RiRi can) and sweatshirts adorned with ruffles and bows. Prices range from $30 for chokers to $450 for things that are out of my budget. Peep the collection here.
