After twelve years as creative director at Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci has stepped down. The news sparked rumors that Tisci would be moving to Versace and added to the list of many high profile designers leaving brands or as it's so playfully called, "fashion musical chairs". The Italian designer is known for this dark, gothic romanticism drawing inspiration from his upbringing, religion and streetwear. Couture and RTW collections often featured sharp tailoring, painstakingly detailed beading, studs, bejeweled faces and cascading feathers. His motifs (like that Rottweiler print you've seen everywhere) became street style staples and his couture a red carpet hit. It appears the split was amicable, the former creative director took to Instagram to express his gratitude for his time at the house and many of his muses expressed their love and gratitude via the social media platform as well. There is no word yet on his next move but the Versace rumors are getting louder and louder. As for his replacement, Virgil Abloh, designer and founder of Off-White, is a strong contender and is said to be in talks with the house already.
