| Iris Van Herpen Dress from the Manus x Machina Exhibit |
I finally managed to make it to the Costume Institute's latest exhibit this labor day weekend, the final day. Manus x Machina is an exhibit that explores "how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear." The exhibit was broken down by technique and material, ie, embroidery, pleats, 3D printing and more. The pieces on display were intricately crafted by man or machine, all incredibly complex and beautiful. Even with the crowds that swarmed that day I managed to get a good look at some of my favorite couture and RTW pieces. Images below...
